Mandala meditation workshops.

Rachel Grant from Your Calmer

A mandala is a sacred space that has been used for thousands of years to creatively express both the inner world and the world around us. Whilst this simple meditative art practice produces beautiful pieces of art, the focus is on the journey; giving you a valuable and enjoyable tool to help manage your stress and get you through the hectic pace of today’s lifestyle, bringing relaxation, reflection, balance and healing. Drawing mandalas is an abstract style of drawing that can be done by anyone with very satisfying results. The workshop provides you with an easy to learn, relaxing and fun way to create beautiful images using simple patterns. Even if you have no previous artistic experience or think you have no drawing skills, you will learn all the skills you need to construct beautiful monochrome mandalas with the option of adding colour. The workshop is hosted by meditation and yoga teacher Rachel Grant, who has used meditation and creative practices for many years as part of her daily rhythm. Rachel creates a wonderfully supportive, fun, soulful and safe space for you to really relax and connect with your creativity.

Feel Alive with a Morning Vinyasa flow
08:30 - 09:30
Jay from Peak Physique Yoga

Feel Alive with a Morning Vinyasa flow with Jay from Peak Physique Yoga. Vinyasa yoga classes are a dynamic style of yoga and tend to be the most popular style. The word vinyasa literally means mergence of breath and body so a vinyasa class typically focuses on merging the breath with the movements in a dynamic sequence. Most classes incorporate sun salutations and offer classes for beginners. The term vinyasa tends to be interchanged with flow. So if you see a flow class on the schedule it may be a vinyasa class.

Leonie

Iyengar Yoga with Leonie The Iyengar approach to yoga is based on the traditional teachings of Patanjali and his Yoga sutras, an ancient text written some 2500 years ago. B.K.S Iyengar took a disciplined approach to the subject of yoga, practising up to 15 hours a day to gain very clear insights into yoga effects and benefits. He shared his teachings incessantly till his passing in 2014, a tradition continued by his family. Some of the defining characteristics of Iyengar Yoga are an emphasis on precision and alignment, planned sequencing, timings in the practice and the use of props. This approach has made it possible for people of all ages and physical ability to experience the benefits of a yoga practice. Yoga does not just change the way we see things, it transforms the person who sees. BKS Iyengar

Yin yoga and Acupuncture
13:30 - 15:00
Mariah & Daniel from SA Integrated Therapies

In life we must have both yin and yang. They are two halves that make a whole. Your yang practice may be a strong vinyassa yoga class, the gym or even running. Where these types of exercises work the yang tissues of the body such as our muscles. A yin yoga practice is slower and quieter and works the yin tissues of the body, such as the deep fascial networks, ligaments, joints and even bones. Yin yoga has elements of Eastern mysticism, modern science, Daoism and traditional Chinese medicine. With a combination of these elements yin yoga has the ability to provide physical, mental, emotional, energetic and spiritual health benefits. There are many directions that a yin yoga class can take but for this particular class with Mariah and Daniel they will be focusing on tension release. Mariah will guide you through a 50-minute yin yoga class that allows tension to release and move away from the heart. There will be a focus on the breath, meditation and postures that work on the specific meridian lines of the body to help facilitate tension release. Working on meridian lines and the bodies energetic channels will help to release blockages and allow for a free flow of qi or energy. At the end of the class there will be an extended (30 minute) shavasana where Daniel will apply acupuncture needles to the already activated meridian lines. The acupuncture will help to enhance the effects already created by the yin yoga practice. This class will be deeply nourishing and rewarding, leaving you in the state of ultimate relaxation.
