Jacqueline is South Australia’s first certified Jivamukti Yoga Teacher and has brought Jivamukti Yoga classes to Adelaide. She teaches Yoga because she sincerely believes that the ancient teachings and techniques of Yoga are even more relevant in today’s modern, urban life than they were thousands of years ago…and she is always finding new ways to prove this in her classes! Gregarious, engaging and compassionate, Jackie is completely devoted to the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual evolution of her students. Her classes aim to empower them to overcome their fears and limitations to be the best version of themselves, no matter how imperfect it may look on instagram!Always interested in health and fitness, however, Jackie first became a group fitness instructor in 1992, aged 19, and has been in the industry now for over 25 years. However, with a PhD in Wound Healing and Gene Therapy, her early background was steeped in science and medicine. After a major cycling accident, Jackie attended her first Yoga asana class through rehabilitation. In 2003 she began studying and teaching Hatha and Antenatal Yoga in Florida under her first teacher, Sandra Angelou-Kaplan, of Sandhi Yoga. In early 2007, and while pregnant with her twin daughters, she completed another 350 hour teacher training at Samadhi Yoga studio in Sydney (now Jivamukti Yoga Sydney) with Katie Manitsas. The new-found joy of teaching Yoga, together with the birth of her daughters and the love and support of her husband, ignited a sea-change that saw Jackie quit her career in medical research to pursue the practices of Yoga full-time. In 2009 she completed Advanced Level 2 (500 hour) Vinyasa teacher training at Yoga Trinity in Port Douglas with Heather Agnew and started her own business, Go Yoga. In 2014 she completed a further 300-hour Jivamukti teacher training with Sharon Gannon, David Life, Yogeswari andJeffrey Cohen. In 2015 she opened her own studio at Brighton, where she teaches a range of classes including Jivamukti Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Antenatal Yoga and leads workshops, courses and min-retreats, as well as seeing private students. She is currently studying Hypnobirthing to further support women in her antenatal yoga classes, and continues her Yoga studies by attending annual immersions, courses and conferences with her teachers. From 2013 until 2017 Jacqueline was a SA committee member of the Yoga Australia and upholds her senior Level 3 Yoga teacher registration with Yoga Australia and Fitness Australia.
