Apples passion is sharing Yin Yoga because of the many healing and restorative benefits that have helped her personally through such times as chronic pain and depression. This offering will be suitable for beginners and incorporate breathwork, a series of long held poses, deep relaxation, Reiki and a little philosophy
A slow flow ( vinyasa) based class, lead in a light hearted and fun way which is suitable for anyone with or without any yoga experience. For this class we will focus on the back of your legs (hamstrings). Often in practice we stretch our hamstrings to create length in the muscle. In this practice we will spend time engaging the muscle which will enhance the stretch. To aid us we will be using a block ( supplied for the practice) or use you own.
Yoga core workshop - harnessing the power of the 'hara' Connection to core is a key aspect of yoga practice. In Japanese yoga, the 'hara' refers not only to the belly and the physical centre of the body, but also the seat of our intuition or centre of one's true nature. Establishing and fostering a connection with this part of our body is therefore an essential element of our healing journey. In this session, you will be guided through a series of yoga therapy movements and asanas to build core pressure from the front, back and sides, to bring blood and energy to the belly, and develop your awareness of this foundational aspect of your energetic body. This practice will leave you feeling calmer, grounded and more connected to your true self whilst giving you the opportunity to feel what it means to 'sit in one's centre'.
Hatha yoga is a form of yoga that involves holding specific body postures, called asanas, to work on muscle strength and connect your mind with your body. Improve Posture and Alignment. Hatha is great for a wide variety of people—especially beginners—as you don't need much prior knowledge or experience. All are welcome.
Meditation doesn’t come easy for many people. And that’s where kirtan-an ancient participatory music experience-offers another method. Without the work of mentally quieting the mind, kirtan can carry us effortlessly to a place of quiet, to stillness. One of the oldest sacred music traditions of the world, the kirtan call-and-response chanting genre comes to us from India. Using ancient Sanskrit mantras, the kirtan calls upon sacred energies which serve to quiet the mind, remove obstacles, and bring us back to the centre of our being. Join Kirtan group “the Shakti Family” as they share their love of chanting with you. Kirtan is the music of yoga. This is part of Bhakti Yoga – the yoga of devotion. In this session, you can sing and dance as we take you to your higher self. No yoga experience is necessary. No singing experience is necessary. Come with an open heart, an open mind and be transformed. The Shakti Family hold regular kirtan in the southern area of Adelaide. Money raised from our kirtans are donated to charities in Australia and overseas. Visit www.nunkeriyoga.com.au
