Hello wonderful yogis my name is Mariah Gates and I am originally from a small town in BC Canada. I grew up canoeing, swimming and skiing in the big beautiful wilds of British Columbia. I have a great love of the environment and I believe that we’re not separate from nature, we’re nature.
I found yoga while I was at Vancouver Film School about 13 years ago. It very quickly became a large part of my life leading to my first teacher training in 2009 through Semperviva Yoga College. Since then I have continued my studies completing another 200hr training with the US company Yoga Works in Bali in 2012. And then this past winter an 800hr program through Byron Yoga Centre. I have also done training through Power Living here in Adelaide in Advanced Vinyasa and Yin.
I am forever the student and I now very gratefully get to call myself a full time instructor here in Adelaide. I teach yoga and barre at Aleenta Barre and also yoga with SA Integrated Therapies.
SA Integrated Therapies is an allied health clinic here in Adelaide. The clinic has a variety of healing modalities where all of the therapists work together to get the best results for their clients. This is where I met Daniel an Acupuncturist and Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He and I began discussing the common thread between yin yoga and acupuncture and from here we decided to work together to develop yin yoga classes with acupuncture during an extended shavasana.
This yin yoga and acupuncture class is what Daniel and I will be teaching at the Port Adelaide Yoga Festival. I hope you join us for this relaxing and deeply nourishing session. You will leave absolutely blissed out. I hope to see you there.
All my love,
